MAURICE TIBERIUS, (A.D.582-602), gold solidus, lightweight issue of 22 siliquae, Constantinople mint, (4.04 g), issued 583/4-601, obv. helmeted, draped and cuirassed bust of Maurice Tiberius facing, wearing chlamys and holding globus cruciger (globe surmounted by cross), D N MAVRC TIb PP AV around, rev. VICTORI A AVC C**QS*, OB+* in exergue, Angel standing facing holding long staff surmounted by P with cross (staurogram), and globus cruciger, (S.529 (Antioch), DOC. 151 (Antioch), MIB 13a). With full mint bloom, nearly extremely fine or better, rare.
