NERO, (A.D. 54-68), AE semis, Rome mint, issued A.D. 64, (3.40 g), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVG IMP, rev. S C in exergue, around CER QVINQ [R]OM [CO], mark of value S above table bearing urn and wreath, facing griffins in panels below, round shield resting against leg, (S.1979, RIC 233, RSC 47, BMC 261). Attractive brown toning, mild surface pitting, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
