TRAJAN, (A.D. 98-117), silver denarius, issued 108, Rome mint, (3.29 g), obv. laureate head to left of Trajan, around IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P, rev. DAC CAP in exergue, Dacian wearing peaked cap hands bound behind, seated on pile of shields, two swords and two spears, around COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC, (cf.S.3136, RIC 96, RSC 118b). Lightly toned, surface scratches, nearly very fine and rare with a left-facing portrait.

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection. This coin commemorates Trajan's conquest of Dacia.
