GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, (18.90 g), issued 241-242, Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Gordian standing to right, holding transverse spear and globe, around P M TR P IIII COS II P P, S C across, (S.8731, RIC 306a, C.254). Even dark patina, mild surface pitting, very fine.
