ALLECTUS, (A.D. 293-296), billon antoninianus, 'C' mint (Camulodunum), issued 293-6, (4.18 g), obv. radiate cuirassed bust of Allectus to right, around IMP C ALLECTVS P AVG, rev. LAETITIA AVG, Laetitia standing left, holding wreath and anchor, S P across, C in exergue, (S.13811, RIC 79 var., Burnett Coinage 94-5 [same]). Dark green patina, good very fine/ extremely fine, rare.

Ex Jack Frazer Collection, from the Classical Numismatic Group XXIV 9 December 1992 (lot 468); previously from the Virgil Brand Collection (Part 7, Sotheby's, 25th October 1984 (lot 663) who acquired it at the Merzbacher Auction, 15th November 1910 (lot 2152) where it was purchased by Spink for ?82.
