INDIA, British, EIC, Madras Presidency, British Style Coinage system, gold quarter mohur or quarter ashrafi, (2.92 g), issued 1819, struck at Madras mint, obv. EIC crest, a lion rampant, around ENGLISH EAST INDIA COMPANY, rev. in Persian 'Quarter ashrafi (quarter Mohur) of the Honourable English Company', (Pridmore 243, KM.419). Extremely fine, rare.

Ex R.A. Climpson Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 85B (lot 2029), previously from the Fred Pridmore Collection, Glendining & Co, 19 October 1982 (lot 405 part) with that packet. The issue was only 91,834.
