Only 46 minted. See Journal of the Numismatic Association of Australia (Vol.6) for a list of recipients that includes Rev W.B.Clarke, Fitzroy Mining Company, Julius Hogarth, Sir Thomas Mitchell, James & William Macarthur and Sir John Herschel. This medal is one of the most attractive and important colonial medals of the 19th century and was used as both a prize medal and a medal of service.
