FRANCE, Feudal, Bishops of Valence, 12-13th century, silver deniers, obv. +S APOLLINARS, cross pomme with annulet in fourth quarter, rev. +VRBS VALENTIA, winged angel or eagle facing (P d'A 4690, [Pl.CII, 19], Roberts 4782, Metcalf 19-40, [Pl. 2]). Fine - very fine. (4)

Ex CNG Triton XI, 7 January 2008 (lot 1812 part).
These coins were one of the two preferred types to circulate in the crusader states in the twelfth century. All from finds probably coming from the Middle East.
