GREAT BRITAIN, Bank of England, Operation Bernhard Forgery, twenty pounds, London, 20 November 1930, No.44/M 56679, Catterns signature, Operation Bernhard forgeries were almost perfect counterfeits produced by prisoners in the German concentration camp Sachsenhausen during World War II, the enterprise was code named 'Operation Bernhard', (S&B183 SCWPM337). Lightly pressed, otherwise very fine.
