WWI MEMORIAL PLAQUE, renamed to Roland Hector Best (see note below), in original fold-over cardboard pack of issue. A few small oxidation spots, otherwise extremely fine.

Note: In Roland Best's Service File there is a note stating that the 'Plaque & roll' read Robert Hector Best. Then an addition ' Records - Roland Hector Best'. Therefore it appears that the Memorial Plaque has been officially renamed to correct the naming error.

Roland Hector Best, labourer, age 28, born at Belligen, NSW; Enl.07Feb1916 at Casula, NSW in 18Rfts for 2Bn, with service of 5 weeks in 7LHR; Emb.03Jun1916; TOS 2Bn 29Sep1916; WIA 06Aug1917 GSW right shoulder and buttock, severe; to 1MG Bn 09Apr1918; Died on 16Jan1919 of influenza & meningitis in Military Hospital, Tidworth, England; Buried at Tidworth Military Cemetery 21Jan1919 with full military honours, the body being conveyed to the graveside on a gun carriage.
