Arthur Richard Hamill, marble and stone polisher, age 36, born at Port Adelaide, Sth Aust; later residing with wife at St Georges Parade, Hurstville, NSW; Enl.27Nov1915 at Town Hall Recruiting Depot, Sydney, NSW, with 12 months service in South Aust Military; to A/Cpl 01Mar1916; Emb.09Apr1916; in VD hospital 08-22Aug1916; TOS 5th Trg Bn 27Aug1916; to France 09Sep1916; TOS 18 Bn 23Sep1916; Returned to England 17Dec1916 with bronchitis; to Pte 25May1917; to Cpl (temp) 26May1917; to L/Cpl 24Jun1917; AWL 05-09Aug1917 until apprehended and deprived of Lance rank by CO; WIA 15Apr1918, SW to face, France; KIA 19May1918, France; Buried at No.2 Heilly Cemetery (Australian Section), France; on 19Sep1922 his wife, at that time in Wollongong, received an advice that actual burial place could not be located and accordingly his name would be recorded on a collective memorial.
