MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.79 g), Alexandreia in Troas mint, issued 189-180 B..C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, countermarked with anchor within rectangular incuse, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left holding eagle, in outstretched hand, monograms above and below arm, in exergue horse grazing left, to right **ALEXANDRO[U], (cf.S.6713, Price 1523 (corrected), Belinger A128). Bright, very fine and very rare.

The coin type according to Robert Bauslaugh is known only from one obverse and two reverse dies. He knew of only three examples of this type.
