HOKITIKA EXHIBITION, 1873, Prize Medal struck in silver (38mm), by Stokes & Martin (Melbourne) (M.1873/1), edge inscribed 'G.O. Preshaw, Minerals & Fossils'. A few small scratches on reverse, nicely toned extremely fine and rare.

The 1873 exhibition of mineral, industrial, and other products of the West Coast was held in Hokitika during the Christmas holidays. The closing of the exhibition and distribution of prizes was conducted at the Hokitika Town Hall on the evening of 4 February 1874.

Mr G.O.Pershaw was treasurer of the Hokitika Exhibition and was also on the committee. As well, he was treasurer of the Hokitika Fire Engine Committee and was on the Hokitika All Saints' Church Committee.
