THRACE, Islands off, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.76 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **[H]RAKLEOUS*, to left **STHROS* (sic), below **QASIWN, MH monogram to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1040-1045, HGC 6, 358). Attractive old grey tone, well centred and good metal, good very fine.

Ex Dr. Colin Burnside Collection, and previously from Noble Numismatics Sales 64 (lot 2220) and 81 (lot 3232).
