MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.93 g), Magnesia ad Maeandrum mint, issued c.319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, A/T monogram under throne, **SIO* monogram in left field, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1970, BMC 1970a-c, M.793). Toned, very fine.

Ex CNG Triton X, 9 January 2007 (lot 1701 part), together with ticket by H.N. Pollard PhD.
