CILICIA, Issos, (c.400 B.C.), silver stater, (10.44 g), obv. Herakles standing half right, holding club, bow, arrow and lion's skin, ankh monogram to right, wreath to left, rev. Apollo Apatorios standing to half left, holding phiale, resting on laurel tree, [wreath behind], **[I]S* in lower field with countermark of a bull to right, all within incuse square, (S.5553, Kraay CGC pl.59, 1028, SNG Levante 173, Pl.10, [This Coin], cf.Traite II, 2, 1372 [for countermark], cf.SNG France 418, SNG Von Aulock -). Toned, very fine and very rare.

Ex Edoardo Levante Collection, sold in CNG Mail Bid Sale 66, 19 May 2004 (lot 537) with CNG ticket.
A similar example in good very fine without countermark in Triton XVIII (lot 49) realised $3500US.
