SYRIA, Kingdom of, Seleukos I Nikator, (312-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm (16.94 g), Seleukeia on the Tigris mint first workshop, struck c.300-281 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left, holding eagle and sceptre, in left field HMP in wreath monogram, K under throne, to right **SELEUKOU*, below in exergue **[B]ASILEWS*, dotted border, (cf.S.6829. SC 117.2b, Newell ESM 12 [dies A21/P65], McClean 9236 [same dies], SNG Spaer 115, Houghton 945, HGC 9, 12i). Toned, nearly extremely fine, rare.
