COMMODUS, (A.D. 177-192), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 185, (29.87 g), obv. laureate head of Commodus to right, around M COMMODVS ANT ON AVG PIVS BRIT, rev. around VOTA SVSCEP DECEN P M TR P X IMP VII , across field S C, Commodus togate standing left, over tripod altar and holding scroll, COS IIII P P in exergue, (cf.S.5833, RIC 454a, C.990, BMC 564). Brown patina, round and very attractive, extremely fine/good very fine and very rare in this condition.
