ISAAC II ANGELUS, first reign, 1185-1195, billon aspron trachy, 27mm, (3.21 g), Constantinople mint, obv. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing with stars in left and right panels, monogram [MP **Q*V] either side of nimbus, rev. Emperor standing facing, holding cruciform scepter and akakia, manus Dei to upper right, to left [I/CAA/KI/[O]C], (S.2003, Hendy Pl. 21, 2; DOC 3e.6). Attractive even patina, good very fine and rare in this condition.
