TRIO: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 830 Pte J.D.Craig. 2/Bn A.I.F. on first medal, 830 S-Sgt. J.D.Craig. 2Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Contact marks, otherwise toned very fine.

Together with brass A (Anzac) on an Anzac Leave rosette; pair of Rising Sun oxidised bronze collar badges; Warrant Officers oxidised bronze crown; King's Silver War badge; unofficial Motor Ambulance Driver badge in brass; overseas service chevrons (1 red, 3 blue); AIF Returned From Active Service badge (WWI); dog tag for 830 J.D.Craig; RSL badges (3, one large and one small two figure type and one three figure type) (all KC); ceramic floral decorated heart containing photo of John Craig; slouch hat on head brooch bar cut out from an Australian sixpence; small home-made souvenir embroidered piece given to John 'Jock' Craig by his mother; Staff Call whistle on woven leather cord, scratched on side of whistle 'J.D.Craig'; Australian Military Forces uniform buttons in bronze (4 medium, 4 small), (all with oxidation); various relevant newspaper cut-outs and also introduction card for J.D.Craig, Life Member of Goulburn R.S.L. Club and Honorary Member card for J.D.Craig to Huskisson R.S.L. Sub-Branch Club; personal letter from a Senior Chaplain at The Rectory, Homebush (an Anglican Rectory) expressing thanks for assisting his boy during the war.

John Donald Craig, chemist, age 26, born at Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; Enl.18Aug1914 at Randwick, Sydney, NSW in 1FAmb AAMC; Emb.18Oct1914; to L/Cpl 10Nov1914; to Cpl 01Feb1916; to S/Sgt 30Mar1916; WIA 22-26Jul1916, shell shock, France; RTA 23Oct1918 for Special 1914 Leave; Disch.25Feb1919; Died 07Dec1963.

In an article in the South West News Pictorial dated 23 November 1962 it stated that Mr J.D.Craig, known to his friends as Jock, was the first man from the town of Young in NSW to enlist in the armed forces in 1914.
