AUSTRALIA, War Service for Australia, WWI, (type 1), in voided oxidised bronze (53x40mm), no maker, pin-back. Extremely fine.

Worn by civilian members of the staff, mostly women, working at AIF Headquarters at Horseferry Road, London from 1916. Another version, oval in shape made of sterling silver and enamel, was issued in 1918.
