SOLD $380

BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES 1950, Auckland, New Zealand, Participant's Medal in bronze (51mm), reverse inscribed, 'S.E.Langstone'. Dark toned and spotty toning on reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine.

Ex Barry McGown Scott Collection and previously from Colonial Auctions 23/7/05 (lot 426).

Mr S.E.Langstone was manager of the Auckland centre of the St John Ambulance Association and in that same year he was appointed Dominion ambulance transport officer of the association. In World War I he served in the British army with the infantry and motor transport services in France and in 1922 left England for New Zealand. The above medal appears to have been a presentation medal to him.
