Thomas Bede Lamond, civil servant with Registrar General's Department in Sydney, age 29, born at Sydney, NSW; Enl.12Sep1914 at Rosebery Park, Sydney, NSW in 13 Bn; Emb.22Dec1914; KIA between 16 and 23Aug1915 at Gallipoli (date later confirmed to be 23Aug1915).

Late Lance Corporal Thomas Bede Lamond.
Lance-Corporal Thomas Bede Lamond, who was killed in action in the Dardanelles between August 16 and 23, was 30 years of age and the eldest son of Mr. James Lamond, of 'Hillcrest', Temple-street, Stanmore, and the late Mrs. Virginia Lamond, who passed away on March 25 last. He was a grand-nephew of the late Mr. Thomas Lamond, of Zetland Lodge. He was educated at the Christian Brothers' School, Newtown, where he gained a scholarship, given by the late Cardinal Moran, in 1889, and finished his education at the Christian Brothers' High School, Lewisham, where he gained the following honours: Passed the junior examination on two occasions, and succeeded in passing the public service examination; he entered the State public service in 1901, and at the time of enlisting was an officer in the Registrar-General's Department, where he was highly respected. He was a member of St. Joseph's branch of the Hibernian Society, and was late secretary of St. Brigid 's Literary and Debating Society, of Marrickville, and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul's Society of the same parish, where he resided for many years; he was also an active member of the Leichhardt Rowing Club. He left Sydney last October with the second expeditionary force, attached to the 13th Battalion, as a private, and was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal on the field; he was at the memorable landing on April 25, and remained in action till the time of his death.- R.I.P.
