CANADA, No.4 B.G.S. (Bombing and Gunnery School), Pickle Barrel Trophy membership badge in silver (13.5mm), by Birks-Ellis (Canadian jewellers), pin-back. Extremely fine and very scarce.

No.4 B.G.S. was located at RCAF Station, Fingal, Ontario, Canada. It trained air crew from various Commonwealth countries under the Empire Air Training Scheme. To encourage bombing accuracy there was an incentive to qualify to become a member of the exclusive 'Port Barrel Club'. The club's trophy related to the Nordern's bombsight claim that it could 'drop a bomb in a pickle barrel from 18,000 feet'.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
