WWI, PILOT'S SWEETHEART BADGE HANDCRAFTED IN GILT (71X23MM), no maker, pin-back with safety chain, monoplane design with open cockpit and RAF roundel on side. Very fine.

Ex Barry McGown Scott Collection and previously from Colonial Auctions 26/2/05 (lot 442).

Said to be worn as a pilot's sweetheart badge and if the pilot was killed then it was worn with a black silk ribbon.
