AFRICA, Somba people of Togo, early 20th century, round defence shield of woven wickerwork, central protruding umbo, old leather repair to side, (380mm wide); Africa, Mongo, late 19th century, wooden shield, of leaf-shaped form, central ridge, handle carved to back, previously painted, (490mm long); central African, early 20th century, leather shield, of oval design, the leather stretched around a wooden frame, (480mm long). Very fine, the Togo shield rare. (3)
