INDIA, British, Bombay Presidency, machine struck issue, silver rupee, Mumbai Mint but struck at Calcutta 1810-1813 for the Malabar Coast, in the name of Alamgir II (A.H.1167-1173, A.D. 1754-1759), Regnal Year off flan, with complete impression of die on round flan, plain edge, mintmark of inverted crescent on obverse, (Stevens 7.18, Prid. 294, BMC 79). Toned, good very fine and rare.

The type is derived from the earlier crescent issues rupees struck at Bombay and Tellicherry. The coin has a simplified legend a neat appearance with its full legend never appearing, apparently deliberately struck this way.
