THESSALY, Thessalian League, (c.470-460 B.C.), silver hemidrachm, (2.68 g), obv. forepart of bridled horse to right, emerging from a rock, rev. grain ear within square area, around **QE TA, (Franke 1970 7, BCD Thessaly II 12 (realised $650US), HGC 4, 197). Very fine or better.
Ex Fred Shore, USA, December 2, 1997 ($500US) at the New York International Coin Show, (he described it as being from Pherai!).
