COMMODUS, (177-192 A.D.), silver denarius, issued 186-187 A.D., Rome Mint, (2.76 g), obv. Laureate head to right of Commodus, around M COMM ANT P FEL AVG BRIT, rev. IOV EXSVP P M TR P XII IMP VIII around, in exergue COS V P P, Jupiter, naked to waist, seated to left on low seat, holding branch and sceptre, (S.5649, RIC 152, BMC 213, RSC 242). Nearly extremely fine, rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3776) realised $160 +, previously from the old Hungarian Collection (No.255).
The reverse legend describes Jupiter as Jupiter, the supreme.
