ANTHEMIUS, (467-472 A.D.), gold solidus, (4.28 g), Mediolanum Mint, struck in 467-470, obv. D N ANTHE MIVS P E AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and round shield decorated with soldier on horseback riding right, rev. SALVS R E IP VBLICAE, Anthemius and Leo, crowned and in military dress, standing facing, each holding a spear and holding between them a globus cruciger, in field between, MD monogram, COMOB in exergue, (S.21617, RIC X 2897, Depeyrot 30/2). Toned, slightly wavy flan and a few light scratches on obverse, otherwise fine - nearly very fine and very rare.
