Dies by Hungarian born Australian artist, Andor Meszaros, best known for his design of the unofficial 1967 'Swan' dollar in the Australian Coin Review design competition. The above medallions, in a smaller size, were available for purchase by mothers who had given birth to a baby at the hospital for ten shillings and the details of the child and date of birth recorded thereon. The larger size as above was also available but at three times the price, namely thirty shillings, quite a large amount in 1947.
