ITALY, Roma, Issued in the name of the Roman Senate, (c.1350-1439), gold ducat, 22mm, (3.47 g), Imitating Venice, obv. St. Peter standing right, holding gospels, presenting banner to kneeling Senator, star at base of banner, P below Senator, rev. Christ standing facing, holding gospels and raising hand in benediction, within mandorla containing nine stars, sudario (shroud showing the face of Christ) at end of legend, (Ives -; Berman -; CNI XV 628). Nearly very fine and holed, flan slightly wavy.
