CENTRAL ASIAN, Hunnic, a group of four (4) silver hemidrachms of an uncertain Hunnic tribe, these all late 7th century A.D., obv. head to right, rev. trident, (cf. the new types of early medieval silver portrait coins from northern Pakistan in ONS 181) these all ex CNG eSale 254, April, 20, 2011 (lot 470) (one illustrated); Hephthalites, anonymous AE billon drachms (2), Shahi Javukha (5th-6th century), obv. Hephthalite bust right with tamgha behind head, rev. in both cases a fire altar, barely visible due to force of obverse strike (cf.G?bl Hunnen 50, 150; MAC.1444) (ex I.S.Wright, January 22, 2008); 'Napki Malik' (c.475-576), billon Drachms (3), Kabul, obv. bust of king right, wearing winged headdress, surmounted by bull's head, control letter behind head, legend Napki Malka in right field, rev. fire altar flanked by two attendants, a wheel above each one (MAC 1507-8), (ex R.Loosely 1981, 1984 amd 1987), (last illustrated); Nezak Huns, Vasudeva, (c.720 A.D.), silver drachm (3.13 g), 31 mm, Zabulistan/Sistan mint. obv. bust right, wearing crown with two wings surmounted by lion's head, rev. fire altar with ribbon; two attendants flanking; star and crescent flanking flames, countermarked in oval, (Gobl, Dokumente, Em. 244 (Sahi Tigin), Sunrise 1037) (illustrated); Local issues, Semireche(?), (c.7th century A.D.), AE 14mm, (1.54 g), obv. Urn and solar wheel(?), rev. bird left on altar(?), unpublished (ex CNG eSale 176 November 14, 2007, [lot 185]) (illustrated). Fine - very fine, several very rare. (11)
