AEGINA (AIGINA), (c.525-500 B.C.), silver stater (11.67 g), "Proto-tortoise" type, obv. a turtle with globular segmented shell, rev. "Early Union Jack" an eight-part divided punch, (S.-, Milbank pl. I, 12, SNG Delepierre 1838, Meadows Group IIb, HGC 6, 432). Very fine, rare.

Ex CNG, January 20, 2004, retail purchase.
The rarest of all the various types of tortoises used on the staters of Aegina.
