CORINTHIA, Corinth, Tiberius, AE as, issued during reign of Tiberius by Magistrates L. Arrius Peregrinus and L. Furius Labeo, (32-33 A.D.), (5.05 g), obv. [L ARRIO PE R EGRINO II VIR], laureate head of Tiberius to left, rev. [L FVRIO L]AB [EONI II VIR] around, hexastyle temple inscribed without traces of GENT IVLI, COR in exergue, (S.-. BCD 381 [Lanz Sale 105, similar coin], Amandry XVI19, obv.Id, rev.Ib9 [p.172], cf.BMC 520 [p.63], cf.SNG Cop.214. Nearly fine and very rare.
Ex BCD collection, sold Classical Numismatic Group Triton Sale VIII January 12, 2005 (lot 2004 part), previously obtained from March 1986 for 2000 drachmas, with his ticket and photographs.
This issue has magistrates whose names appear on both sides of the coin. Amandry puts it into the reign of Tiberius, he notes 14 obverse and 53 reverse dies a total of 96 coins for all issues of these magistrates. In the whole range of issues and for these dies a total of no examples appeared with this die combination.
