MACEDON, Kingdom of Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.50 g), 'Amphipolis mint', issued c.325-319 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right, in crested Corinthian helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, thunderbolt if field to left, to right **ALEXANDP[OU], (cf.S.6702, Price 164, BMC 164a-b, Muller 2, Troxell p.125). Nearly extremely fine/extremely fine, some mint bloom and rare thus.
