JOHN V PALAEOLOGUS, (A.D. 1341-1391), gold hyperpyron, (21mm), (3.42 g), Constantinople mint, struck c.1347-1354, obv. John V and Anna standing facing, each holding sceptre, X to left, rev. Andronicus III kneeling right before Christ standing left, holding hand above emperor in benediction, (S.2466, DOC 943 var. (sigla), LPC 190.1-2 var. (same, but see no. 8 under recorded sigla). Nearly very fine, weak in places.
