JOHN V PALAEOLOGUS, (A.D. 1341-1391), silver eighth stavrata (16mm), (1.05 g), Constantinople mint, struck 1367-1376, obv. facing bust of Christ Pantocrator; pellets flanking, rev. Crowned facing bust of John, (S.2512, DOC 1247; LPC p. 154, 3). Very fine, lightly toned, struck from a worn reverse die, scarce.

Ex Dr L.J. Sherwin Collection, bought from CNG eSale 280, 6 June 2012 (lot 428) previously from the J. P. Righetti Collection, No.1213.
