COLONIAL AUXILLARY FORCES LONG SERVICE MEDAL (VR). Color Sergt J.Crump. Engraved. Very fine.

John Crump, blacksmith, born Ross, Herefordshire, UK, emigrated to Sth Australia with his parents in 1865 settling in Gawler. He was also a member of the Adelaide Rifles, serving with Guards of Honour to several State Governors. In Gawler he was a musketry instructor when the Russian war scare was on and attained the rank of Colour Sergeant and served continuously for more than twenty years in the South Australian military forces.
