TRIO: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 8566 Gnr. H P.Dallinger. 17F.A.Bde. A.I.F. on first medal, 5866 A-Bdr H.P.Dallinger 1 F.A.B. A.I.F. on last two medals. Note the transposition of first two numbers on the first medal, incorrectly stamped 8566. All medals impressed. Good very fine - extremely fine.

Together with two tribute fobs. The first, in 9ct gold (6.4g) with soldier in front of rising sun and with shield below, this inscribed with monogram initials, 'HPD', reverse inscribed, 'A.R.C./To/H.P.Dallinger/1919'. The second, also in 9ct gold (8.4g), similar design to previous but with Artillery colour patch in enamel in the centre, reverse inscribed, 'To/H.P.Dallinger/from Relatives/on his return from/The/Great War/1919'; also aluminium dog tag and two Artillery colour patches.

Henry Phillip Dallinger, plumber, age 27, born Albury, NSW; Enl.10Sep1915 at Albury; Emb.09Nov1915; 07Dec1915 joined 1st FAB Suez Rd Camp; 21Mar1916 departed Alexandria for France; to Acting Bombardier 09Feb1917; RTA 06Jun1919; Disch.29Jul1919. The original pioneering Conrad Dallinger came to Australia in the mid 1800s to escape the hostilities of the Prussian War. After arriving in Sydney he purchased a bullock dray and after the long, slow overland journey he finally took up land at Mungabareena, just outside what was then the village of Albury. This was later to become the site of the Albury aerodrome. Just prior to WWI the back paddocks of the Dallinger's property were made available to the military authorities as a training area.
