AUSTRALIA, WWI, map case in leather, Soldier's Pay Book for Lieut C.R.Hilton, 4th Aust Pioneer Btn, Memorial Card that includes his brother's name, Joseph Finian Colombo Hilton, and photo, official note to Lieut C.R.Hilton from his CO regarding his late brother. Good - fine. (4)

Lieutenant Joseph Finian Colombo Hilton enlisted in AIF on 24 August 1915, the same day as his brother, Lieutenant Clement Xavier Richard Hilton. He was blown up and killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux on 25 February 1917 while serving with 9th Battalion. He is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. His brother also fought in France with 4th Pioneer Battalion. After the war he lived in Ipswich, Queensland where he died on 4 July 1950.
