ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.400-350 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.51 g), obv. female head of Demeter to right with double fillet, rev. corn ear, META trace to right downwards, leaf to left, die break on corn ear, (cf.S.405, Noe 377 [same dies], SNG ANS 302 [same dies], Boston 78 (same dies), SNG Cop. 1190 [same dies]). Toned, nearly very fine a rare type.
