ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (3rd century B.C., 302-281 Ravel), silver drachm, (3.06 g), obv. head of Athena wearing crested helmet ornamented with Skylla to right, rev. owl with closed wings standing to right, TAP on left, club and IOP on right, (S.367, Vl.1057) (illustrated); another (380-325 B.C.), silver diobol, (1.01 g), obv. helmeted head of Athena left, helmet decorated with Skylla, rev. Herakles kneeling, strangling the Nemean lion; control marks off flan, (cf.S.351, cf.HN Italy 911 and 976). Nearly very fine, second coin toned. (2)
