MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.97 g), Damascus mint, issued c.330-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left the forepart of a ram right, dotted struts between legs of throne containing **L/DA*, **ALEXAND[ROU]* to right, (cf.S.6713, Price 3210). Bright, cut on obverse, nearly very fine/fine and scarce.

A similar example in our sale 127 (lot 4152) realised $500.
