CARIA, Knidos, (c.465-449 B.C.), silver drachm, (6.19 g), obv. forepart of lion to right, with open mouth, rev. head of Aphrodite to right of fine archaic style, hair in lines and bound with plain band, all within incuse square, K N I around, (S.4834, Cahn, Knidos, No.83 [same dies, obv.V39, rev.R58], SNG Cop. 240-1 [same dies], BMC 14 [same dies], Boston MFA 1985-6 [same dies], McClean 8473 [same dies], Weber 6470-1 [same dies]). Toned, with traces of golden highlights, nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
