GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE Sestertius, issued 239, Rome mint, (19.50 g), obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, rev. Aequitas standing to left, holding scales and cornucopiae, around AEQUITAS AVG, SC across, (S.8699, RIC 267a, C.13. Hunter p.lxxxiii). Extremely fine with an attractive dark green patination, rare as such.
