SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COMPANY, SIXPENCE, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, June 1st 1836, No 418 imprint Chapman & Co., Cornhill, London entred C.S.Hare, signed Samuel Stephens, Colonial Manager. Numerous veritcal folds and minute pin-holes otherwise nearly exteremly fine and excessively rare, the only example known (lot 2684 Sale 36 ) in private hands, the other was purchased by the ANZ archive. Of outstanding historical importance and rarity.

The South Australian Company later traded as the South Australian Banking Company and the Bank of South Australia. The Kingscote ntoes were the first of South Australia.
