ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE, Sandhurst, Dux medal in silver (38mm), reverse inscribed, 'Philip Timothy Putnam/1892'. Toned extremely fine.
Philip Putnam was born at Bendigo, Victoria and after completing his schooling he went on to pass a Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Melbourne in 1899. Dr Putnam M.D., B.Ch., F.R.A.C.S. died at Palmerston North in New Zealand on 19 February 1941. He had been an honorary surgeon at the Palmerston North Hospital for 30 years and after his retirement in 1938 he was appointed an honorary consulting surgeon. Away from work he was a member of the Manawatu Racing Club and served on the committee for many years and he was also a member and ex-president of the Manawatu Club. During World War I he served as a Captain with the New Zealand Medical Corps.
