BURNIE FIRE BRIGADE, Tasmania, 1910, fob medal handcrafted in gold (9ct; 4.28g; 31x41mm), obverse inscribed, 'AM', reverse inscribed, 'From Burnie/Fire Brigade/To A.Mulley/10-8-10'. Good very fine.
A North Western Advocate and the Emu Bay Times newspaper report of the medal presentation on 11 August 1910 reads as follows and note that the recipient's name in the article is spelt Mullay.
'A pleasing function took place at the Burnie Fire Brigade Station on Thursday evening, when Mr. Arthur Mullay, who is leaving for Hobart, was presented with a gold medal by the brigade members. The superintendent, Mr. J. Tong, made the presentation, and said that Mr. Mullay had always been to the front when any arduous work had to be done. He wished him every success in his future sphere. Mr. Mullay suitably responded.'
