THE ROYAL AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA, undated (1913), in silver (69mm), by J.S. & A.B.Wyon, edge inscribed, 'Awarded To Aust. Implement & House Furn. Co. for Power Pump on Transport. July 1913.' Hairlines and a few scuff marks, otherwise good very fine.

Thomas Hardy & Sons Limited placed their vineyards at Bankside, Underdale at the disposal of the society for use in the pruning and spraying machines section of the competition. In the latter tests were conducted on: 1. Hand-power portable pumps for small gardens; 2. Hand-power portable pumps for orchards; 3. Power pumps on transport. Each of these offered a silver medal for first and bronze medal for second. The judges were Messrs George Quinn (Horticultural Instructor) and A.Everand (Engineer). The machines were judged and awarded points as follows - simplicity of construction, 15 points; durability of construction, 25 points; maintenance of pressure, 25 points; agitation of spray, 15 points; efficiency of transport, 10 points; ease of starting, 10 points; fuel consumption, 15 points; general flexibility in working, 10 points; ease of access to principal parts, 15 points; standardisation of parts, 10 points, for an overall total of 150 points. Australian Implement & House Furniture Co scored 120 points with the second placegetter, J.H.Horwood & Co Ltd scoring 115 points.
